March 3rd Weekend
Reno Fun Train 

Ride the rails with MAX Friday to Sunday, March 3rd through 5th. MAXSouth and MAXTravel present the RENO FUN TRAIN! The adventure includes round trip train from Emeryville, two nights at Harrah's East Tower, discount booklet and lite meals on train. Casino Tropicale

Shanti and MAX will host a casino night at the Rincon Center, 101 Spear Street, San Francisco on March 4th. MAX helped Shanti raise $20,000 at last year's Casino Tropicale where more than 350 people attended a fabulous party. The Rincon Center was hopping with gamblers, dancers, great food, drink, and entertainment. This year, the gambling venue will include slot machines. In addition, there will be a silent auction and a raffle drawing with American Airlines travel as a prize. Tickets will be sold at the door for $25.00. Since 1974, Shanti and its volunteers have dedicated themselves to enhancing the quality of life, improving the well-being and promoting the independence of people living with terminal illness, primarily HIV disease and AIDS. Shanti has trained more than 8,000 volunteers who have provided more than two million hours of care, love, counseling and assistance to those in need.

Ballet Trockadero

Enjoy the ever-fabulous male travesty and comic dance  company at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium. MAXSouth has reserved a limited number of tickets for this special event. Contact Hugh Barnett at 408.435.1172 to reserve your tickets at $23 for MAX members and $27 for non-members. Then send in your check to the MAX office with Trockadero on the memo line. MAX member Brad Littlefield has also arranged for an optional brunch beforehand at Palo Alto's beautifully refurbished Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel. We will meet at the Cabana at noon for brunch at the private Chef's Table. Cost for the brunch will be approximately $20. When reserving your ballet ticket, tell Hugh if you're planning to join the brunch group.

FAT Tuesday!

Join us for happy hour celebrating Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras style. Beginning at 6:00PM on Tuesday, March 7, we will be meeting at The Bar On Castro to celebrate this event in style. Cosmos at Opening Day Ceremonies

Join your favorite fun-loving softball team, the MAX Cosmos for Opening Day Ceremonies on Sunday March 12, at Moscone field (Chestnut/Buchanan Streets, in the Marina) at 11:30am sharp! Cosmos/MAX team member Howard Miller will be singing the National Anthem. The Cosmos will play their first regular season game at 1:20pm. Then join the team at the Midnight Sun immediately following the game for more fun. If weather presents a problem please call the SFGSL hotline at  436.0707 for further details.

Once again the studly men from MAX are hitting the slopes. This year we have reserved luxury condos at Bitterbrush in Incline Village. MAX is organizing a visit to the Palace of the Legion of Honor to see the Georgia O'Keeffe Exhibit. Join our docent led tour of The Poetry of Things, the first exhibition of the artist's painting of objects. The 53 paintings explore O'Keeffe's emotional, spiritual and aesthetic relationships with the objects she chose to paint. At CitiCourt Cafe, 1 Sansome Street. Finish off your month, and do a good deed, by joining the Community Outreach Committee for a Fifth Friday TGIF to benefit Dolores Street Community Services. Dolores Street Community Services provides a variety of services, including a licensed facility providing supportive housing for people living with AIDS who were previously homeless; a housing program providing emergency food and housing to homeless in the Castro and the Mission; and a community center. Cost is $5 members, $10 guests. No reservations necessary.
