Yosemite 2000

Back by popular demand! One of MAX's most wonderful weekends - two fun-filled days at Yosemite National Park. Twenty-four lucky MAXers will hike, party, and of course, drink in two deluxe houses (with 12 hot tubs) just outside the park. We leave Friday, June 2 and arrive for brunch at the famous Ahwanee Hotel. After a night of conviviality, we'll spend Saturday hiking around the park before heading home on Sunday the 4th. One price of $170 for MAX members ($200 for non-members) gets all the food and drink you can consume (the Ahwanee brunch is extra). Participants must share beds and help prepare meals. The Harvey Milk Show: a passion play
At New Conservatory Theater

Join MAX at the return engagement of last season's powerfully entertaining musical illuminating the passionate and political work of Harvey Milk, the City's first openly gay elected official. TASTE at Forbes Island

Take a private launch from Dock "H" between Piers 39 and 41 to the Forbes Island floating restaurant for a unique dining experience in San Francisco Bay. Join MAX members for cocktails, then a dinner at 7:30PM of Caesar salad, choice of rack of lamb or Ahi tuna, chocolate dessert, coffee and two glasses of house wine. Potluck Dinner in Eastbay

MAXEast will host a potluck dinner in Pleasant Hill at the brand new home of Joel Goldfarb on Sunday, June 18th from 3-7:00pm. The MAX Forum committee is conducting a reading and discussion group about gay authors. If you're interested, call Mark Cecil at  752-9851. The book club choice for May/June is Stephen McCauley "The Man of the House".

Membership Orientations 

June is new member month and for those of you who recently joined MAX, we are having several membership orientations this month. Come learn what you've got yourself into by attending one of these comprehensive, yet short, meetings. To make it convenient for all our members, we are offering orientations in the East Bay, in the South Bay and in San Francisco. If you joined MAX within the last six months, you will be receiving an invitation to this event. However, if you never attended a new member orientation or feel as if you are in need of a refresher course, please feel free to attend one of these meetings. To reserve your spot, please contact one of the orientation hosts at the location which is most convenient for you. The host will give you the specific details.

Tuesday, 6/20 at 7:00PM Byron Hancock (Certified Financial Planner) and Joel Rubinstein (MFT, Trainee) will discuss the unique issues and concerns which arise in dealing with money and finances in gay male relationships. Learn how to recognize and successfully navigate financial matters. Issues such as inequality in power and wealth, differences over spending and savings, keeping separate and combined accounts, sex and money, and many more.  Confirmed attendees are invited to submit questions in advance.  $10.00 per member $15.00 nonmember. COSMOS Pink Saturday Picnic 

The Cosmos 2nd annual Pink Saturday barbecue/picnic fundraiser. Please join MAX's softball team the Cosmos for a fun-filled day in the sun. We'll eat, drink, play volleyball and other games (think "Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens"). Located in Golden Gate Park, 14th Avenue/JFK Drive, the spot right after the Rose Garden. Prices are as follows: $8 dollar beer-bust / $10 all you can eat + 2 beers / or $15 all you can eat and drink........so mark your calendars! See all the details.

Hike and Picnic around Lafayette Reservoir

Back by Popular Demand! This is a morning hike and box lunch picnic. The event starts at 10am. The hike around Lafayette Reservoir is a smooth 2.7 miles along the inner perimeter and 4.7 miles along the outer perimeter. This event is free to members and $5 for non-members. The park is located at 3849 Mt. Diablo Blvd. just west of downtown Lafayette, off of Highway 24. Bring your own box lunch/brunch and drinks with enough to share with someone nice. Celebrate Pride 2000

Come join your fellow MAXers at our exhibition booth on the 25th from 11am on for the 2000 SF Pride Celebration. MAX will be providing information about our club to the massive crowds. Promotional items for volunteers and beverages for MAXers who stop by will be available. The MAX booth will be on Hyde Street between McAllister and Golden Gate. On June 30th, MAXers will once again descend upon GUMPS, that oh-so-San-Francisco purveyor of home and personal finery, for an elegant evening of conspicuous consumption. MAX continues its long-standing support of the Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation (REAF) by again making them the beneficiary of the grandest annual Fifth Friday TGIF of them all. You'll enjoy ABSOLUT-ly divine libations generously hosted by Seagram Americas and palate-pleasing complimentary hors d'oeuvres while surveying a myriad of objet d'art and must-have accoutrements amongst GUMPS' wares, all for an entry fee of $20. Grand Diva Carole Cook will be there to urge you to bid at the live auction of travel packages and other affordable luxuries organized by REAF. This benefit is in support of REAF's gala HELP IS ON THE WAY VI: THE MUSIC OF COLE PORTER to be held July 31st and August 1st.
