June 12th, Campbell & Marcovicci
Sold Out!
David Campbell and Andrea Marcovicci are appearing in San Francisco! The gorgeous, young Australian,
David Campbell who has wowed audiences in his homeland and at New York's
Algonquin Hotel will be appearing with the beloved diva, Andrea
Marcovicci at 8:00PM at the Alcazar Theater, 650 Geary Street. They will
be singing solos as well as duets and will perform a variety of
contemporary tunes and standards. Check out the websites for David and

June 13th, San Jose Pride
Show your colors in the South Bay! Join your MAX friends at the Pride
Festival in San Jose on Sunday, June 13th. The parade is at 10am and the

Women’s Health Clinic Open House
Where can you spend a fun afternoon of food, drinks, and entertainment —
including seeing one of our own Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence working
out on a stirrup table — and all for FREE? Where else but the Lyon
Martin Women’s Health Center from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday June 13! Brothers
for Sisters is inviting MAX members to come see this wonderful facility
that so many of us have supported over the years. Come take a tour and
in the process honor your mother or some special woman in your life The

June 18-20th, Yosemite 2: The Sequel
MAX returns to Yosemite . Because last Fall's trip
was so popular, MAXSports is returning to Yosemite. We've rented two
houses, so everyone will have a private bedroom (shared with just one
person) and their own bathroom. Houses also have hot tubs, pool tables,
stereos and VCRs. We'll arrive Friday, June 18, for lunch at the famous
Ahwanee Hotel. There'll be a Friday night welcome cocktail party, Tea
Dance and lots of other activities (Strip Twister, boys?) Saturday,
we'll hike to various spots in the park. Dinner will feature our
unforgettable MAX awards ceremony and "Disco B.C." dance party. Sunday,
we'll gather for a picnic on the Valley floor (or brunch at the Ahwanee)
before heading home. The price for the two-day stay is $170 per person
(non-members 20% more). This includes all food and drink, except lunch
at the Ahwanee. (Members must help with meals and clean up) Houses can
accommodate only 24 people, so reserve early. For more information,

June 19th, City Hall Part II 1:30 PM
For the 45 of you who were on the waiting list for the last two City
Hall Tours in February, and did not get to go, Jim Haas has agreed to do
another one for MAX members on Saturday, June 19, at 1:30 PM. This will
be the last one for MAXForum, so get yourself signed up by calling Mike
Barsul @ 331.1850 to reserve your spot, and then sending your check
for $5 to the MAX
address with "City Hall" on the memo line. This one is limited to
the first 25 people who send in their checks. As last time, we will meet
in front of Chevy's on Van Ness at 10:45 AM.

June 23rd, TASTE at Absinthe
Designed in the provencale style by San Francisco architect Richard
Strauss, Absinthe Brasserie and Bar includes aberrant touches that make
the space into a culinary adventure beyond tradition! Located in Hayes
Valley (398 Hayes Street at Gough), Absinthe's formal dining room
features a new pressed-tin ceiling with a lacquered patina, and is
furnished with romantic mohair booths and belle epoque period posters.
The informal dining room has leather banquets and a collection of
one-of-a-kind mirrors, while the separate cafe area has copper-topped
tables, a mosaic floor and a 30 foot long cherrywood bar with brass and
a glass area cleverly back-lit with custom overhead pendants. Chef Ross
Browne has a special menu for MAX, with many extras not on the regular
menu. Some of the items are:

The cost is $53 for members and $58 for guests. Cocktails are also
available for purchase. We'll meet for drinks at 7:00pm and dinner at

June 24th, Home Buying Seminar
What The First Time Home Buyer Needs To Know -- Many
people believe it is impossible for a first time home buyer to purchase
a residence in The City. But people who attend this seminar will find
out differently. Topics will include choosing an agent, deciding what
you are looking for in a home, the negotiation process, and financing
options including the “Mortgage Credit Certificate” program, the Mayor’s
“Housing Assistance” program, and the “Community Reinvestment Program.”
An accountant will show you why purchasing a home can be a huge tax
benefit. MAXForum will present the seminar at North American Title Co.
at #1 Daniel Burnham Court #262-C in the City. The seminar will be held
on Thursday evening, June 24th. The time is 7:00 PM, will last for about
an hour, and light refreshments will be served. The cost is $5 for

games and a beer bust and picnic fundraiser on Saturday June 26, 1999 at
Lindley Meadow, Golden Gate Park (30th Avenue and JFK Drive) at 12:00
