Alcatraz Sleepover
Ready for Men Behind Bars: Part II? Last year's sleepover on Alcatraz
proved so popular, we're doing it again! Be one of 30 MAXsters to enjoy
a private boat trip to and from Alcatraz, a private tour of the
facilities, dinner, and a night in Cell Block C.
Participants must perform one hour of light cleanup and bring sleeping
bags and toiletries. The cost for this unique trip is $65.00 (Members) /

An Exotic Night In The Middle East
Belly dancing, exotic food, drinks, music and atmosphere all
await you when MAXeast meets at the famous El Morocco Restaurant in
Pleasant Hill. From the moment you enter El Morocco, you will notice the
authentic decor - beautiful hand made rugs abound, low brass dining
tables and large overstuffed tapestry pillows as chairs. Owner Fadil has
created a special menu for MAX which includes family style servings of
harira (lentil soup), maghreb salad, bastila (stuffed baked filo dough)
with four entree options which may be chosen that evening (both meat and
vegetarian), traditional pastry and mint tea. Our special price includes
the meal, entertainment, tax, and tip. A full bar is available. An
expert belly dancer will be performing on the center stage and audience
participation is suggested. The cost is $25.00 (Members) / $30.00

Art & Film For Teenagers Benefit
Since 1992, Art &Film for Teenagers has been offered free of charge
to all teenage students in the Bay Area. Beginning with only 19
students, the program has grown to over 500 strong and includes
offerings such as ten days of free films in its Shakespeare Film
Festival for Teenagers, Friday night Cine /Club with free showings of
classic films at the Randall Museum and Dolby Labs, and walking tours of
galleries and museums followed by a picnic, current release film and
discussion afterwards. Art & Film channels hundreds of free tickets to
symphony, opera, ballet, dance and theater performances donated to its
students by the city 's cultural institutions. Every other year it
rewards its most devoted students with a European Summer Studies Program
that takes them to London, Paris, Italy and Spain. For the third year
running, Art & Film will also run a Film Workshop allowing students to
make their own films with the help of professional filmmakers and
editors. MAX sponsored this very successful event last year and is proud
to do it again! The event is at Foreign Cinema. Paula West will be
singing and the honorary chair, Michael Tilson Thomas, will be
attending. Tickets range from $40.00 to $1,000.00 and can be purchased

Search For Signs Of Intelligent Life
If you missed Lily Tomlin in 1985 when she was first in San Francisco
with this show, now's your chance to fill in the gap in your theater
experience! Lily Tomlin returns to the San Francisco direct from her
recent Broadway appearance in her Tony Award-winning play The
Search for Signs of Intelligent Life In The Universe. MAX has
5th row orchestra seats! Prices are $40 for members and $45 for guests.

Streetcar Named Desire
Take a trip back into the future! We have chartered an historic
street car: Municipal Railway No. 1 built in 1915. We will travel
with a Market Street Railway docent from the Embarcadero to Ocean Beach,
ending up at the Castro. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon learning
about our world famous street cars!
Also, enjoy the good company of your fellow MAXers and
maybe even get a hookup! There will be optional, no-host cocktails/early
dinner in the Castro following.
Seating is, of course, limited so get your reservations and payments in
early. The cost is $20 for members and $23 for guests. Bill
