Sea Kayaking on Monterey Bay
Here’s what you get:
- A stunning Fall sea kayak trip on and near Monterey Bay filled
with playful sea otters, diverse bird life, and the gorgeous scenery
Monterey is renowned for.
- The highlight of this trip is the night we spend at Debra Tudors (Maxer
Cale Siler’s aunt) “Holiday Hacienda”. It’s a magical, whimsical place
with a pool from the 50’s, zebra skin chairs and red leather sofas,
redwood trees and rose gardens, a pine ballroom and the incredible,
outrageous Debra Tudor as our host. The Holiday hacienda will be ours
for the weekend.
- The trip is a very manageable, “beginners-oriented”, low mileage
sea kayaking trip lead by sexy, highly trained kayak guides
- Amazing meals cooked by our gourmet chefs
- Bring your significant other or make a new friend and share a
romantic night in a 2-person tent!
- All instruction and equipment is provided such as tents, kayaks,
and sleeping bags
- You get to hang out with a great bunch of people and feel good
that the money you paid for the trip helps people with AIDS. Every
MAXer that attends this event sends THREE people living with AIDS on a
similar trip!
The trip costs $262 per person for MAX members and $278 for
nonmembers which includes two days of sea kayaking, expert instruction,
all food while we’re in Monterey and all sea kayaking equipment
(including clothing, paddle jackets, first aid kits, and rescue gear).
To reserve your spot,
pay online and then call Karen Nemsick at 621-7529 x 2894. We
look forward to spending an incredible weekend with you!

Bootjack Loop Hike
Hike with MAXers and friends in Marin County on Bootjack Trail. "Few
hikes provide glimpses of such a dynamic, diverse, and delightful
habitat as the Bootjack Loop. The trail crosses a meadow, oak woodlands,
and some hilly grasslands, then submerges deep into a redwood forest and
climbs back out, all in the space of 6.2 miles. It entails a steady
downgrade, so you face a huff-puffer climb on the return trip, but the
redwoods make it worth the grunt."-Tom Stienstra. Reserve your
spot for this hike online.
Paul Mugnier is the MAX champion for this event, phone 431-2422.

New Member Dinner
MAX holds a monthly New Member Dinner to which you are invited, even
if you're not yet a member. If you are a new member or considering
membership in MAX and would like to meet some other fun guys, you'll
have a great time at our monthly dinner party. It will be a simple
dinner prepared as a team effort by all those who attend. The cost is
about $10 and will be shared by attendees. What we usually do is take
some group photos, organize teams to prepare dinner, hear a short
presentation about MAX, and talk around the dinner table and get to know
each other. If you're interested,
send us an email. We'll let you know if there's space left and give you
all the details. Bob Callori at 821-7988 coordinates these dinners.

East Bay Thai Dining
Join the Men of MAX as we take on an evening of dining in Alameda. We
will be enjoying a pre-fixe menu at Amarin Thai Restaurant in separate
upstairs dining room. In addition to somewhat spicy Thai cuisine, the
restaurant offers an ambiance suitable to the MAX men: the curved, blue
upholstered chairs are pretty nice and the fish pond gives the place a
slight chic-ness. Space is somewhat limited for this event. $26 for
Members and $30 for Guests plus Acteva fee.

contact Champion Paul Shields for more information at 933-6910.

MAX Halloween Party
Ever dream
of being a favorite stud character from a movie? How about some femme
fatale? Maybe just some horror creature or maybe just a trashy whore?
Well, your opportunity to live your dream is about to arrive. Ever
wanted to go to the Castro on Halloween, but didn't want to deal with
all the later night craziness? How about wanting to go, but didn't know
where you could go in (or out of) costume for some fun and drinks before
hitting the crowd scene? Here is your opportunity.
MAXoutreach and MAXparty will be hosting a fabulous fund-raiser on
Halloween night in the Castro, benefiting the Jon Sims Center.
Complimentary appetizers and cocktails will be served. The fun will be
at the Atelier Studio Gallery, 2354 Market Street, just steps from the
Castro. Only $20 for lots of fun! Buy your ticket online
now before they sell out! If you need more information, contact Party
director Bryan Hawk at 648-0479.
Note: On Halloween night, access to the Castro area will be
controlled, and a voluntary $3 donation will be requested at the gates.
