Committees

MAX committees create a variety of activities for MAX every month. MAX's committees are made of up of volunteers, like you, and you are welcome to participate on a committee to any degree you wish. It is a great way to meet other members and become a part of MAX. Brief descriptions of all MAX committees are found on this page. Use the links at the left to learn more about a MAX committee.
  • San Francisco: The San Francisco events committee scopes out fun events including shows, performances, concerts, educational workshops, seminars and discussion groups covering a wide range of topics from buying a home and personal finance to coming out and other gay social issues. The committee has also sponsored several food and wine events such as visits to local wineries and artisan food producers, backyard barbeques, pool parties and theme parties including the throbbing excitement of 200 people celebrating Halloween. Other events have been hiking, biking, skiing, or paddling, and long weekend camping trips.
  • MAXeast: Fun in the East Bay is our theme. TGIF's are once a month (locations anounced in the Event List), potlucks, dining out, pool parties, sporting events, wine & chocolate tastings, museum tours, Mystery Tuesday® and more. East Bay Men staff our monthly committee meetings to plan your future events to promote socializing and fellowship. Send your suggestions or requests to
  • MAXsouth: Serving up fun for guys in the South Bay, MAX South hosts a local monthly Friday TGIF gathering and organizes other group activities to give South Bay men a chance to meet other men in a friendly and open atmosphere. Recent events have included potluck dinners, beach trips, and special parties.
  • Communications: responsible for the monthly newsletter that provides information on activities and committee news, MAXmail the weekly email update, and of course, MAXonline, MAX’s own web site.
  • Outreach: organizes MAX's successful charity benefit events and, most recently, has taken on the new responsibility of creating tutoring and mentoring activities that are coordinated with local gay and lesbian organizations.
  • Membership: Helping on the Membership committee is a great way to meet new and potential MAX members. Membership's role is to provide insight and information to prospective members and to host orientations for new members. These orientation dinners or brunches take place in an atmosphere that allows people to get to know each other and gives new members the "networking" foundation to fully enjoy MAX.
  • TGIF: Each regional committee organizes and hosts the  well-known TGIF, our Friday after-work cocktail parties nearly every Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend.  TGIF members get to meet and greet everyone as they arrive and introduce new guests to members to make them feel welcome to MAX.
