Who are we: MAX is a volunteer organization, open to gay men and bi-sexual men who want to meet new friends and participate in MAX events. The MAXmembership Committee, under the direction of the MAXmembership Director, coordinates MAX membership activities.

How do I become a member?

Visit our joinMAX page where you can choose how you want to pay. You can pay for your membership by credit card. Or, send a check to MAX.

Membership Dues: MAX is supported by member dues. There are three levels of participation as a member:

Participating Member: $45

• Access to over 100 events each year
• Weekly electronic newsletter
• TGIF events in East Bay, South Bay and San Francisco
• Discount on all events (except fixed price events)
• Access to Members-Only events
• 10% discount on Alaska Airlines

Hosting Member: $90

• All of the above, plus:
• Free entry to all San Francisco TGIFs
• Printed calendar of events sent by US Mail upon request.
• Two $25 event coupons which you can apply toward most events.

Ambassador: $150   OUR AMBASSADORS

• All of the above, plus:
• Bring a guest to any TGIF free
• 4 guest passes for any TGIF
• Additional two $25 event coupons.
• Special recognition on the MAX web site and in Ambassador's section of MAXmail
• MAX Ambassador's lapel pin

Event Fees: MAX charges event fees for most events based on the cost of the event. Fees are collected in advance for most events. Non-members and guests are always welcome to attend MAX events, but usually pay a minimum of $5 over the member price. For expensive events, such as trips, the non-member surcharge may be up to $75.

MAX is a non-profit organization and all event and activity fees are determined by the estimated cost of each event. Typical party events range from $10 to $30, while a night at the opera may run $75. Trips range from $200 for a weekend in Saratoga Springs to $1,600 for a week in Rio. Because MAX is a non-profit organization, and all events are staged and coordinated by MAX volunteers, MAX events always represent a great value.

MAX Publications: Your membership dues pay for, among other things, your subscription to MAXmail, MAXonline, and MAX administrative expenses.

• MAXmail is our weekly email reminder of MAX events. As a MAX member, you'll receive MAXmail as a short email message each week.
• MAXonline is MAX's own website, administered by a MAX volunteer webmaster. You are on this website now.
• MAX Calendar of Events by mail can be requested by  Hosting and Ambassador level members.
