Valentine’s Day is going to be very special this year! Kicking off a day early on Thursday, February 13th MAX is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Rainbow Community Center at Club 1220 in Walnut Creek. An Evening of Guitar and Potluck Dinner

Music aficionado, Steve Zink, organizes music evenings at his home in the San Carlos Hills on a regular basis. For this event San Francisco musician, Eric Hartshorn, will play classical and finger-style acoustic guitar. These soirees have been held in the past with great success. It is a combination of a pot luck, entertainment and socializing to build community cohesion and to foster the arts. In the past he has held poetry evenings and musical evenings. In the future he will add story telling and group participation events. A donation of $10.00 in addition to the admission fee is requested which will be donated to a specified charity. This month’s charities will be the Soul = Soul group and the Redwood City Eckankar Center. Donation checks may be made to “California Satsang Society”. Sunday, February 23rd, 9:00AM
Emperor Norton Memorial Service

THE ULTIMATE SAN FRANCISCO ECCENTRIC, Emperor Joshua Norton is outshined only by his consort Empress Jose. Join the San Francisco Imperials for the annual tribute to the most colorful character in SF History. Emperor Norton was a Silver Baron gone broke…and insane. He declared himself Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. Despite his "condition", San Francisco society embraced him and set up a throne room for him in the Palace Hotel.

This affair is the denouement to the Coronation Ball held the prior Saturday night. And Boys….the Girls come out for this one. I have seen Donna Sachet in a little black Chanel number, with a chapeau that rivaled Jackie at Arlington. Make no mistake, the goods are on show. In the past the folks at Woodlawn have gone all out with a breakfast buffet and coffee. The event is sponsored by the Imperial Court of SF. MAXforum and the Arts Committee will greet you in front of Woodlawn Cemetery.
VIEW A MAP. The event is free and we plan to have an informal brunch post-service. Even though there is no charge for this event, please email Paul Mugnier or Ken Wrasse an RSVP and mention if you plan on joining us for a bite afterwards. Out of respect, please wear mourning clothing, either full drag, dark suit, or something you'll look respectful in.
